Jackie Porter
Instructor
Jackie Porter Jackie is an Indianapolis native who began private dance lessons at the age of 5. Her dance training later led to membership in the color guard at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN. This experience increased her exposure to multiple dance forms including modern/contemporary, jazz and ballet. With continued dance training and classes outside of color guard rehearsals, this led to joining the dance program at IUPUI as a dance minor in 2006. As an Art major at Herron School of Art and Design within IUPUI, she was a member of “The Moving Company”, IUPUI’s dance performance ensemble. As a featured performer, she received high accolades for her solo choreography and performances within the ensemble. While later continuing the pursuit of her bachelor’s degree at IU’s Bloomington campus, she began teaching dance while also acting as a guest performer in various settings.
Jackie also acts as a color guard dance instructor and choreographer within several high school programs throughout Indianapolis and surrounding areas and has helped to lead several programs to state championships and national championship participation. While in the studio setting, Jackie has worked with dancers of all ages in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern/Contemporary. Whether inside the studio or out, Jackie loves to study the art of dance and find new ways to teach children of all ages in the pursuit of education and fun.
