Competition Program

Indy Dance Academy Competition Company provides the serious dancer the necessary tools in order to excel into collegiate level programs and as professionals in the performing arts.

Levels within the Company offer dedicated dancers the opportunity to discover their own potential and further their technical training, while experiencing the camaraderie of working and growing together as a team.

IDA’s Company instruction provides dancers with a strong focus on their individual growth within their technical foundation and dance education. Dancers will receive quality training through curriculum based classes in multiple dance techniques and styles.

Throughout the dance season, dancers will participate in studio performances, regional and national competitions, conventions and outreach performances throughout the Indianapolis community.

Interested Company & Team dancers must possess the following…

  • Demonstrate the effort needed to accomplish goals set by the Director and themselves.
  • Be eager to develop their artistry and technical skills in the art of dance.
  • Be self –motivated and show self-discipline.
  • Show respect to their instructors, choreographers, teammates and themselves.
  • Be physically fit and demonstrate mind-body awareness.

Company levels are in place to properly develop the individual dancer’s technique and to ensure quality instruction within IDA’s level based curriculum & choreography. A dancer’s training is developed individually as well as their pathway, provided by the Dance Director, into placement of IDA Company levels, technique classes, group routines, etc. Director’s placement gives the opportunity for the dancer to develop, refine and excel their dance training, technique, performance qualities and artistry.

 

COMPANY COMPETITION LEVELS

  • Diamond ages 10-18

  • Sapphire ages 10-18

  • Topaz ages 8-12

  • Ruby ages 9-18

  • Emerald ages 6-9

  • Pre-Company ages 5-9

How do you join IDA Company and Team?

Dancers interested in joining Company should schedule an meeting with Dance Director, Stefanie Allen. During this time the dancer’s skills will be assessed to determine their appropriate level. Interested dancers are to participate in the Company Summer requirements in order to maintain and grow their dance technique in order to progress into the new dance season.  Please email stefanie@indydanceacademy.com or call 317.218.3694 for audition information and to schedule your meeting.

COMPANY PREP PROGRAM

The Company Prep Program is designed for dancers who are interested in growing their dance technique, artistry, and performance qualities. This program is structured with the budding Company dancer in mind. Dancers auditioning for the Company may be selected to participate in the Company Prep Program prior to becoming an IDA competitive dancer. All dancers selected to be a part of the Company Prep Program must meet with Dance Director, Stefanie Allen. At this time your dancer’s skill set and goals will be discussed in order to curate a schedule of assigned classes to take for the full dance season.

program requirements:

  • Participate in the full dance season: August- June Recital
  • Participate in IDA Performances: Holiday Hoopla & Recital
  • Participate in IDA Dance Convention located at IDA.
  • Participate in IDA Showcase Productions (Fall and Spring Semesters)
  • Complete requirements, including guidelines, payment schedule, expectations, etc. to be outlined in Company Prep Program Calendar.
