Indy Dance Academy is committed to providing high quality and positive dance education to our youth dancers through curriculum based classes several dance techniques and styles.

IDA’s diverse schedule serves students ages 18 months through adult, from the beginner to the pre-professional dancer. IDA’s Pre-Dance classes, for young dancers ages 18 months to 7 years, introduce movement, coordination and beginning dance skills through curriculum- based classes. Grade based classes in multiple styles and dance techniques are offered for dancers in 1st-12th Grade. Indy Dance Academy also offers the pre-professional dance the opportunity to study techniques in multiple dance disciplines at an advanced level. Pre-Dance Programming

Indy Dance Academy is committed to providing high quality and positive dance education to dancers through curriculum-based classes.  Our diverse pre-dance programming serves dancers ages 18 months to 7 years old! Start your tiny dancer in one of our Creative Steps classes and watch them grow as they continue into our Creative Combo or Pre-Ballet classes!


 

Creative Steps II: Walkers 18 months- 2.5 Years

Dancing together with your child while exploring movement activities and introducing flexibility and strength skills are the key elements for this fun and educational class. A wide variety of movement to music, props, and rhythm instruments add to the playful environment and learning. Motor  and mental skill development is enhanced in a creative and playful environment. Caregivers are always welcome.

Creative Steps III: In this exciting 45 minute class, students ages 2.5-3.5 years, will be introduced to beginning rhythmic movement/dance steps as well as full body coordination and basic tumbling skills. A wonderful transition from Creative Steps 11, this class will stimulate student’s imagination and promote creativity, balance and coordination!


Ballet is the perfect class for the budding ballerina who wishes to expand their love of ballet in a structured environment. Dancers, ages 4-6, will learn basic ballet terminology, positions, and techniques all while having fun with creative exploration.


Tot Hop: Dancers will enjoy learning Hip Hop techniques and stylization while dancing to their favorite songs in an age appropriate manner. Class will focus on proper conditioning and warm-up, individualized isolated body movements, and high-energy combinations.


Creative Movement, for ages 3-4, and Creative Dance, for ages 4-5, will introduce beginning ballet and tap techniques. Emphasis is placed on basic dance skills, rhythm and creative expression, creative play and fun dance routines. Our dancers will learn in a playful, imaginative and non-competitive environment.


Creative Combo, for ages 5-7, dancers focus on beginning ballet, jazz and tap techniques. Emphasis is on basic dance developments, musicality, full body coordination and creative exploration, combining the movements into creative routines. Our dancers will develop an appreciation for dance in a structured but non-competitive environment.

Indy Dance Academy is committed to providing high quality and positive dance education to dancers through curriculum-based classes in several dance techniques and styles. Our diverse Youth Recreational Class Schedule serves dancers 1st-12th grade.


Ballet

Indy Dance Academy offers a wide range of Ballet Classes that are tailored for every age group and skill level. Emphasis is placed on proper body alignment, execution of rotation, as well as application of port de bra and stylization.


Hip Hop

Dancers will enjoy learning Hip Hop techniques and stylization while dancing to their favorite songs in an age appropriate manner. Class will focus on proper conditioning and warm-up, individualized isolated body movements, and high-energy combinations.


Jazz

Jazz is a form of dance that is directed by the sounds, rhythms and techniques of jazz music.  Our Jazz classes combine classic and contemporary Jazz techniques while introducing stylization of movement.  Emphasis is placed on proper body alignment, execution of movement, strength and conditioning. Class will include a proper jazz warm-up, technical progressions across the floor and fun stylized center combinations.


Lyrical

Lyrical is style of dance that expresses emotions and a story line through movement. Our classes introduce and expand upon basic modern and jazz techniques with an emphasis on creative stylization. Dancers will be led through a proper warm up, strength and flexibility exercises and then move to progressions across the floor and creative combinations.


Musical Theatre

Dancers will study Broadway Musical dance styles. Throughout this class dancers will develop their Jazz technique and learn choreography from popular musicals. Vocal work and acting skills will be incorporated into the class curriculum. Whether it is for a musical, show choir or their high school dance team, dancers will learn key auditioning technique and skills throughout class as well.


Poms

Poms class is a movement based dance class that focuses on sharp arm movements, execution on choreographic visuals and dance team / cheer skills. Dancers will learn fundamentals of Poms positions, performance skills and promote dancers to expand on their high energy, entertainment skills.


Tap

Our Tap classes teach dancers to develop musicality, rhythm, quick thinking and the ability to “hear” music. Class curriculum will include a tap warm up and move into complex progressions and rhythmic combinations.

Indy Dance Academy offers private lessons and semi-private lessons for beginner – advance dancers.

Indy Dance Academy can come to your location!

IDA can offer your organization or school dance classes, workshops, and demonstrations in many styles of dance and movement to accommodate all ages in a small or large group setting.  We can provide this service at your location or you can bring your organization or program to us and feel the IDA energy.

IDA offers classes, workshops, or demonstrations: offerings can be altered to fit your organization’s specific needs.

  • Our fun and energetic class offerings include a balance of dance technique and exciting choreography where the students build upon weekly. These classes feature an ongoing curriculum set by the Instructor to cover appropriate materials within a session in dance styles such as ballet, music and movement, hip hop, and musical theatre dance.
  • Our fantastic Workshops offer an interactive, inspiring instruction to your students. The workshop will consist of  a warm-up, technique introduction based on the dance style chosen, and a choreographed combination. Educational materials, handouts, or props may be provided.
  • A Demonstration brings Indy Dance Academy Instructor(s) and/or Youth Performance and/or Competition Company or Team to your location for a performance in the style(s) of your choice. Demonstration can also include an Instructor Presentation as well as a Question and Answer session.

To purchase your dancer’s class attire visit our online store at curtaincallforclass.com passphrase: IDAROCKS1 If you are unsure what size to order your dancer, Sizing kits will be available in the merchandise room at Indy Dance Academy.

All dancers must have their hair pulled back in a neat ponytail for class; bun for ballet class. Jewelry should not be worn to class. Please bring a dance bag to accommodate attire and shoes for class.
